Get a tour of the Rhode Island College’s apiary this Saturday, August 3rd, 10-11:30 am and participate in an informational workshop on Urban Beekeeping! An experienced beekeeper from the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association (RIBA) will teach you everything you need to know to maintain healthy hives in the city.
We will also be screening a film that explains colony collapse disorder, which has been and will continue to be a serious threat to agriculture.
RIC’s bee yard can hold up to 20 people, so please pre-register for this workshop. We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

When Cluck opened in June this summer, we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Providence’s new urban farm supply store. Beginning this month, as our newest vendor member, Cluck will be offering all SCLT members a special 10% discount on select gardening tools.
And, theres more! We’ll be offering a high-quality, seed-free mulch blend to all SCLT members at a discounted price of $10/bale. Cluck sources their straw from Lucerne Farm–a sustainable, family-owned farm in Maine.
You can pick up your straw at Cluck (399 Broadway) on Saturday, July 27th from 10am-noon. We’ll be there with tips on how to properly mulch your gardens with the Lucerne blend. Enjoy complimentary snacks and browse the mini farmers’ market in Cluck’s parking lot brought to you by the Little City Growers Cooperative!
Not a SCLT member? Join us on the 27th, sign-up for membership on-the-spot and purchase your straw at the discounted price! Plus, if you do sign up at the event, you will automatically be entered into a drawing for a raffle prize courtesy of Cluck.
