Last Friday, we were invited by our friends at Eastside Marketplace on Pitman St. for a visit! We are one of many beneficiaries of Eastside Marketplace’s Friendship Fund, and the store gave us this opportunity to tell people about our work in the community. Skye Hibbard-Swanson, the Community Land Trust’s AmeriCorps VISTA for 2010-2011, was there to hand out free seeds and tell people about our Plant Providence workshops, the annual Plant Sale coming up, and the Community Land Trust’s 30th anniversary this year.

Through the Friendship Fund program, people can save their receipts from Eastside Marketplace and give them to participating local non-profit organizations; when the organization turns in the receipts, they get a donation equivalent to 1% of the total. If you’d like to participate and support our community gardens and educational programs in Providence, collect your receipts and send them to 109 Somerset St., Providence RI 02907 in care of our Director of Operations, Liana Cassar. Thank you again to Eastside Marketplace for this unique partnership!
