Practical Politics

E. Melanie Dupuis

For a healthy dose of realism after the sugary sentimentality of Valentine’s Day, consider attending E. Melanie Dupuis’ lecture next Wednesday, “Alternative Food Systems Without the Romance.” Dupuis is a professor of sociology at UC Santa Cruz and the author of Nature’s Perfect Food: How Milk Became America’s Drink, as well as the editor of several works on food politics. Her presentation is sponsored by the Mellon Graduate Fellowship on Food Studies at Brown. The event will be held from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the John Nicholas Brown Center (357 Benefit St.): click here to view the flyer.
