Deciding Vote for Chickens in Providence

We’re down to the final push: the chicken ordinance will be voted on for the second time by the full City Council tomorrow, Thursday, September 16th. The Council meeting begins at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers, 3rd floor, at City Hall. This is the final vote, so if you are available tomorrow evening, please come to City Hall and show your support. (Many of the City Council members talk with constituents in the hall outside of the Council Chambers between 6:30-7:00 pm, so that is a great window of opportunity to talk with Council representatives directly).

Between now and tomorrow evening, please also call your representative to make sure (s)he will vote in favor of city chickens! At the September 2nd meeting, the tally was 12-1 in favor of the Backyard Chicken Ordinance, with Councilman DeLuca voting against and Councilman Lombardi and Councilwoman DiRuzzo absent. (Note: Councilman Cliff Wood from Ward 2 is the sponsor of this ordinance, so there is no need to call him!)

We’ve received a lot of compliments from City Council members about our effort thus far, so let’s make one final push to get this ordinance passed tomorrow evening! If you have any questions, please contact Leo Pollock at, or (401) 273-9419, ext. 28.

Thank you for your continued support….we’re only one step away!

  1. Like the new look, but “From Seed to Fruit” black text is hard to read against the background…
