As part of his "How to Start Seeds" workshop, Rich holds up a pie tray that he recommends you use to bottom-soak seedlings.

Hmong cooking demos were very well-received this past Saturday, as attendees ate their fill of Nim Chow.

Seed swapping! A constantly bustling, HUGE Kick-Off hit. People were bartering free and saved seeds while dishing on their favorite food growing practices.

As you can see, much of the Kick-Off revolved around Food: the starting, growing, prepping and serving; the friends that gather to join in ritual; the welcoming of Spring and her endless bike-friendly, park-stretching, food growing comforts.

SCLT’s Community Garden ladies made the event a reality: Liza Sutton, Community Gardens Director; Erika Rumbley, Community Gardens Network Coordinator; Jamie Fredricks, Community Gardens VISTA. You three are amazing. Thank you, and all our volunteers, for such an exceptional time.
